The incident occurred just before 2:00 p.m. on October 17.
According to police reports, 911 dispatchers received a call for assistance after a driver was reportedly carjacked. Authorities reported to the scene and spotted the person’s vehicle, a 2022 Honda, traveling at a high rate of speed northbound on Texas State Highway 16.
Authorities attempted to stop the vehicle. However, it continued forward at a high rate of speed before crashing into a Chevrolet pickup truck.
One person involved in the accident, a 64-year-old man from Kerrville, Texas, was seriously injured. The man was airlifted from the scene and flown to a hospital in the San Antonio, Texas, area.
A second person involved in the accident was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Kerrville Police Department is currently investigating.
